Description
An extraordinary 15th-century palazzo of exceptional beauty, revealing its secrets to the fortunate few, on the banks of the Grand Canal.
Rarely do we see a Venetian property of such standing and so immaculately restored that it takes one’s breath away.
So let us introduce you to the Gothic Palazzo Dell’ Angelo gently kissing the water’s edge between the Rialto and San Samuele, yet away from the crowds and offering ravishing views, moments from Campo Sant’ Angelo in the ‘sestiere’ of San Marco.
Sharing this super-prestigious stretch of the Canale Grande with such historically hallowed neighbours as the famous Palazzo Mocenigo and the fairytale Palazzo Pisani Moretta directly opposite, the illustrious Palazzo Dell’ Angelo encapsulates 4 superior apartments, each set to exceed your expectations of a Venetian luxury rental property.
Marrying a meticulously considered décor with a timeless air of privilege (along with a sense that a Venetian ‘home’ simply doesn’t get better than this!) the palazzo can host up to 28 guests when booked exclusively and boasts an exclusive Grand Canal water gate (porta dell’ acqua) for direct travel by private water taxi.
Once the property of the ancient Garzoni family (originally from Bologna, they later became citizens of the Venetian Republic) and once home to the magnificent library of the notable historian, Pietro Garzoni (1652-1719), the palace is blessed with a truly memorable panoramic vista captured by Canaletto in his 1725 painting ‘Grand Canal: Looking North-East towards the Rialto Bridge’.
Discretely accessed landside via its ‘secret’ arch-and-column-fringed internal courtyard, Palazzo Dell’ Angelo’s 4 apartments are of differing sizes and styles.
Served by stairs and lift and offering a host of contemporary accoutrements (including air-conditioning and Wi-Fi) they comprise:
Palazzo Dell’ Angelo Altana (5th (top) Floor reached by lift – Sleeping 6 guests)
In a splendid position at the very top of the palazzo, an ultra-characterful haven with a warm and cosy vibe offering privacy and seclusion and its own ‘altana’ rooftop terrace!
Its 2 bedroom / 3 bathroom charming loft-style accommodation comprises:
• A heavily beamed semi-open-plan sitting room / dining area / well-equipped kitchen with sloping ceilings and a large L-shaped sofa for lazy lounging
• 2 stylish double bedrooms with beautiful marble en suite bathrooms
• An additional guest bathroom
• It’s own private ‘altana’ rooftop terrace offering a fascinating Venetian roofscape taking in the tilting bell tower of Santo Stefano … and a lot more besides!
* Please note the restricted headspace in certain areas of the apartment
** Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close to each other but in separate apartments? We offer 3 other apartments in this beautiful Venetian palazzo: Palazzo Angelo Rialto Luxury Apartment, Palazzo Angelo Piano Nobile and Palazzo Angelo Fenice Loft
OUR COMMENT
A masterful mix of contemporary and traditional, coming together as one within an exquisite Grand Canal palazzo
Wonderfully situated in an exclusive area known for its antique shops and galleries close to Campo Santo Stefano – one of Venice’s best-loved squares - the Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art and the Accademia Bridge leading over to the Accademia Galleries and the district of Dorsoduro.
Within easy reach of a selection of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops, including a grocery/delicatessen and a well-stocked local wine shop.
Within a stone’s throw of 2 vaporetto (water bus) stops for easy travel around town (San Samuele - Line 2 and Sant' Angelo - Line 1), and within steps of the 'traghetto' service (situated literally beside the palazzo) ferrying passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to San Toma (close to the Frari) in the district of San Polo.
Moments to the gallery of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana - a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings and, for scent-lovers, steps away from the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine ‘Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’ – one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine de’ Medici.

il colpo d'occhio della sala centrale e tutti i dettagli erano magnifici e curati. In particolare ho apprezzato i bagni.
Molto bello e comodo avere il concierge.

Il letto padronale avrebbe potuto essere un po' più grande
Le prese touch non sono di facile comprensione.
La sera sul comodino resta una lucina della presa

AN ESTABLISHED STAR ON THE VENICE SCENE! Taking centre stage amongst our expanding galaxy of fabulous properties - a splendid 3 bedroom/3 bathroom apartment with furnished 'altana' roof terrace offering exceptional accommodation and a carefully considered mélange of the very best in Italian styling, hand-crafted furnishings, classic simplicity and luxury fittings, all very much at home within the unquestionable charm and convenience of its central yet tranquil upmarket location. Lovingly renovated under the watchful eye of an expert team, sleeping six and with an interior masterminded by highly respected Florentine architect and interior design company ‘ArchFlorence’ (experts with impeccable credentials, whose work graces some of Italy’s finest properties), the spacious air-conditioned apartment is on the 3rd and 4th floors and lies within the refined Venetian district of San Samuele, a central and genteel little oasis of art and antique galleries just off Campo Santo Stefano in the San Marco district of the city. Named after the nearby former San Samuele Theatre where Casanova’s mother performed as an actress and moments from where he was born to become one of Venice’s most celebrated sons, Ca' Del Teatro has a large and impressive open plan living space combining sitting, dining and kitchen areas and featuring subtle and sophisticated colours, chic upholstery, all the latest appliances plus a modern open-sided staircase leading to a superb clear glass-sided landing overlooking the area below. Magnificent weathered timbers given a rustic whitewash finish further emphasise the age, character and lofty proportions of the property while internet connection plus a washing machine allow for an eminently practical stay whatever the duration. Also on this level are two gorgeous bedrooms - one in complementary shades of mocha and mulberry with double bed and mirrored wardrobe, the other a twin in lime and bitter chocolate and both with roomy and sumptuously appointed bathrooms (one with shower, the other with shower and bathtub). Move on upstairs to a further plush bedroom, this time in violet and lavender shades and featuring a richly button-backed French-size bed, moroccan style mirroring and an en suite shower room with w.c. And to top it all beautifully, access to one of Ca’ Del Teatro’s stellar attractions - a super ‘altana’ roof terrace enjoying spectacular views towards the Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art and perched up on high for surveying the scene. OUR COMMENT A class act and fantastically positioned... ...within steps of a grocery store, a wine shop and a range of cafes/osterie.....plus the gallery of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana - a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings and, for scent-lovers, the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine ‘Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’ – one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine de’ Medici. Conveniently close to the vaporetto stops at San Samuele and Sant' Angelo for easy travel around the city, the 'Traghetto' gondola ferry which, during operating times, carries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal between Calle Del Tragheto (near Sant’ Angelo) and San Toma in the district of San Polo. For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.30 reviews

The ULTIMATE in refinement and elegant living, with views that must surely be second to none! Directly overlooking St. Mark’s Basilica, St. Mark’s Square and the Campanile towering tall, it’s with barely contained excitement that we welcome Due Leoni… … A property that made us all gasp in astonishment, to describe it as ‘stunning’ would be an understatement to say the least! Hosting 6 astute guests in trip-of-a-lifetime surroundings and (almost!) rubbing shoulders with the Torre dell’ Orologio (Clock Tower) next door, the 4 bedroom Due Leoni is as rare as it is ravishing and is bright, uplifting and exceptional throughout. Classically furnished with grace and panache and on the 4th floor served by lift, the air-conditioned* apartment boasts gorgeous wooden parquet flooring while its walls are adorned with period paintings and prints. ‘Take-your-breath-away-wonderful’ and including Wi-Fi, the accommodation comprises - - An airy and spacious south-facing sitting / dining room with ample comfortable seating, a beautiful Aubusson-style rug, and an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling glazed doors opening directly onto the long furnished terrace overlooking the Basilica… take a browse through its photo gallery - need we say more! - A cosy library / relaxation area with sofa to the side where the TV, though just the thing for chilling out during downtime, inevitably ‘plays second fiddle’ to the splendid vista outside - A streamlined, modern galley-style kitchen - well-equipped and found just to the rear of the sitting room - A quietly elegant master bedroom to the front of the apartment with a double bed and 3 floor-to-ceiling glazed doors opening onto the terrace enjoying eye-level views towards the Basilica’s famous bronze horses and extending down to the waters of the Bacino beside the Doge’s Palace - A beautifully presented double bedroom to the rear with double bed and a few steps leading up to an en-suite bathroom with shower - Two very pretty chintzy single bedrooms to the middle of the apartment (and on opposite sides), one with an en-suite bathroom with shower - A separate bathroom with bathtub to the very rear of the property, & completing the apartment… - A laundry room with combined washing machine/dryer, ideal for longer stays * Present in all main rooms with the exception of the kitchen Please note that the operation of air conditioning and heating are subjected to the municipality regulation. Generally, the heating works from middle of October to middle of April, while air conditioning works between middle of Aprile to middle of October. Please contact us for further information. OUR COMMENT 100% Chic and entirely unique - one of the most remarkable rental properties in Venice today. Standing in the iconic beating heart of ‘La Serenissima’ - St. Mark’s Square - where, at night, the orchestras of the world-famous Gran Caffe Quadri and Caffe Florian conjure up a truly magical atmosphere (music is dependent on weather and season!), while the pink and white marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness. A short stroll to the Rialto Bridge crossing the Grand Canal and within easy reach of 2 well-stocked supermarkets for all your self-catering requirements - one at Salizada San Lio and the other at Rialto - and to the vaporetto (water bus) stops at San Zaccaria and Vallaresso for simple and convenient travel around town. For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.16 reviews
